ASUS joins 18:9 display bandwagon, launches Pegasus 4S

The Pegasus 4S comes with dual cameras, is fuelled by a 4030mAh battery, and encased in a full metal body.

Taiwanese electronics giant ASUS has launched its latest smartphone in China, the Pegasus 4S. The device, which was earlier codenamed as X018DC, features a 5.7-inch 720x1440 pixel HD display under a 2.5D glass. The key feature of the display is its 18:9 aspect ratio — a first for an ASUS device. The company has reduced the bezels considerably at the top and bottom. The device measures 152.6 x 72.7 x 8.8mm and its weight is 160 grams.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by an octa-core Mediatek MT6750T chipset clocked at 1.5GHz. There are two variants of the phone, where the base model has 3GB RAM/32GB storage and the advanced model has 4GB RAM/32GB storage. The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS with company's custom UI on top. Fingerprint recognition and dual SIM with VoLTE support is standard on both variants.

As for the imaging, the Pegasus 4S has dual camera setup (16MP + 8MP sensors) with auto-focus and an LED flash. The camera is capable of shooting videos at 1080p resolution. There is also a front-facing snapper, which produces images of up to 8MP. The phone is fuelled by a 4030mAh battery and will be available in two colour variants — Star Black and Gold. There is no confirmation or information about the device being released in the global market.
