HTC U11 to spawn an affordable sibling with Edge Sense
We recently reviewed the HTC U11 (review) and we claimed it to be one of the best smartphones we have laid our hands upon in the recent times. The U11 excelled in most of the parameters that a flagship smartphone has to cover. However, it seems that HTC has been very excited with their ‘U11 super formula’ and therefore wants to apply it to other products from their lineup.
A report from Android Authority claims that HTC is planning to unveil a mid range smartphone by the name of HTC U11 Life before the end of 2017. The smartphone is speculated to be an 80 percent copy of the flagship smartphone apart from the internals. The U11 Life will be built on a Snapdragon 630 chipset along with 32GB of onboard storage. The smartphone will sport a 5.2-inch display along with a fingerprint sensor arranged in a similar fashion to the U11. The smartphone is also expected to sport the U11’s 16MP panoramic selfie camera as well as a 16MP rear camera with PDAF autofocus.
However, HTC is also planning to bring U11’s novelty features to the mid-range segment with the U11 Life. The pressure-sensitive Edge Sense will be a part of this phone’s feature list along with IP67 water proofing. The U11 Life will also come with the U-Sonic earphones, which passed with flying colours in our review.
If the U11 Life becomes a reality, then HTC could join LG’s trend of bringing this year’s flagship features to the mid-range segment. LG recently unveiled the Q6 with a bezel-less FullVision display from their G6 flagship handset.
