Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has officially announced the Honor 8 in China and the phone is expected to hit markets by July 19 at a starting price of $300.
The device is Huawei’s latest high-end offering under the Honor family and it comes with a 5.2-inch FHD display alond with 2.5D curved glass architecture.
In terms of hardware, the smartphone is powered by a 2.3Ghz octa-core Kirin 950 SoC, and runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 with EMUI 4.1 on top. The handset is available in two variants—one version packs 3GB RAM along with 32GB internal storage; the other one equips 4GB RAM along with 64GB space.
The handset scores high on storage as it can be expanded to 128GB via a mircoSD card. Image capturing on this phone is made simpler due to dual 12MP cameras, supported by laser autofocus technology and an amazing aperture of f/2.2. The camera looks good and is expected to perform decently well even in low-light conditions. Additionally, the front 8MP snapper with f/2.4 is also good for taking good selfies.
Moving on, it also equips a fingerprint scanner on the rear which the company said is decently fast. The phone is backed up by a 3,000mAh battery along with fast charging option. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports 4G LTE, USB Type-C, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi. It has a hybrid-dual SIM slot which doubles up as a storage expansion slot.
The phone is available in multiple colour variants— Pearl White, Sunrise Gold, Midnight Black, Sakura Pink and Sapphire Blue. While the base version of the phone is priced at $300, the high-end version with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage will retail at $374.
While Chinese retailers will start selling the handset as soon as July 11, there is no information of when it will be launched in other countries.
