Asus Zenfone 5 leaked: iPhone X-like notch, Snapdragon 845 and more
It’s only a week more before the MWC embarks on to give us the biggest stars of this year in the smartphone market. Samsung Galaxy S9 flagship has been confirmed for making an appearance at the event; however, Asus could also pull off a major crowd stunner with what appears to be their flagship offering for this year. Leaks of a new Asus smartphone are doing rounds and judging by the details, there could be a possibility of the Zenfone 5 making a debut.
Folks at GizChina have uncovered leaks of a new Asus device carrying the codename of Z01RD. The device has appeared on AnTuTu’s pages and has achieved a score of 238,129. That’s a pretty high score, which is given considering its mentioned internals — Snapdragon 845 SoC with Adreno 630 GPU, 6GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage and the latest Android 8.0 Oreo. The display will support a resolution of 2246 x 1080 pixels. These figures clearly indicate that this is a flagship device looking to battle it out with the upcoming giants of the smartphone industry.
Another leak from a blogger shows off this mysterious device. The smartphone’s face closely resembles the iPhone X, complete with its notch and a narrow-bezel display. However, compared to the iPhone X, the notch on this Asus device appears to be narrower, which suggests that it could possibly not sport a dedicated facial recognition feature like the one on the premium Apple. The display could be an AMOLED panel, considering the narrow bezels. However, there’s no shot of the rear panel of the device.
If the rumours turn out to be true, then this prototype device could take the stage at the MWC 2018 as the Zenfone 5. Asus has confirmed to make its appearance at the event, which bumps up expectations by a huge margin.
