TCL teases to launch QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone at CES 2017
China’s TCL Communication Technology Holding Ltd has reportedly confirmed to unveil BlackBerry next QWERTY smartphone in January at Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in US.
Last week, on December 15, BlackBerry closed its deal with the Chinese tech firm TCL to make and sell BlakBerry-branded mobile devices globally, coupled with BlackBerry’s security software and security suite. Just one-day after the agreement was signed, President and GM of TCL Communication in North America took his excitement to his twitter handle, saying, “Remington No. 2 of 1878 #TheNewBlackBerry.”
Those who are unaware, ‘Remington No. 2 is a typewriter, which came into production in 1878 with QWERTY keyboard and a shift-key.
The new agreement gives TCL, the fourth-largest handset maker in North America, the right to make and sell BlackBerry-branded smartphones in all countries except India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Indonesia, some of BlackBerry's biggest handset markets.

Considering BlackBerry’s earlier statements, the smartphone teased by the TCL is likely to be the much-awaited BlackBerry’s new QWERTY smartphone said to be launched in 2017.
