361 rowdies rounded up in morning raid
Bengaluru: The city police raided the houses of 361 rowdies early on Tuesday morning. They were paraded and warned to stay away from criminal activities.
The raids were conducted by south and west division police. South division police raided the houses of 151 rowdies while the west division raided the houses of about 210 rowdies.
The police raided the houses simultaneously and took the rowdy sheeters to police stations concerned.
They were grilled over their activities. Information about their associates, their sources of income and other details were gathered. Most of them are involved in murder, attempt to murder, assault, extortion, robbery and other cases.
Later, they were paraded where they were warned by the DCPs of south and west divisions.
Both the divisions have 16 police stations and all rowdy sheeters of the 32 stations were paraded. In south division, the police got an undertaking from some of the rowdies that they would not involve in any criminal activities and were left after a stern warning.
“While cases were booked under some others under various sections of the Cr.PC and then they were let free. In the west division, undertaking was received from 110 rowdies while cases were registered against the other 100 rowdies,” the police said.
“Rowdies will be available at home early morning and thus we planned simultaneous raids in both the divisions in the morning. Rowdies were surprised and taken aback to see cops on their doorsteps. Weapons were also found in some of their houses and they were seized,” an officer said.
Raided were conducted on the houses of Subramani, Santosh, Bandi Seena, Ashok alias Omlet, Chandrashekhar, Shashikumar, Soma, Babu, Ramesh Gowda, Jabbi and others. The raids were conducted under the supervision of DCP (South) H S Revanna and DCP (West) D C Rajappa.
