Activists lay siege to Ananta’s house

Activists lodge complaint at police station against UPA leaders for provoking people in the name of split.

Anantapur: Advocates Joint Action Committee lodged a complaint against Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde and Union defence minister A.K.Antony at One Town police station in Anantapur for provoking people in the name of state’s division process, on Wednesday.

As part of ongoing agitation against speedy steps towards state’s division process, the Advocates JAC of Anantapur district took out a procession raising slogans against the division process. The leaders reached One Town police station and lodged a complaint against the UPA leaders.

Referring to unilateral decision over the bifurcation move, Rayalaseema Advocates JAC convener V. Gangadhar, district JAC convener K. Viswanath Reddy and other leaders alleged, “the UPA government had not considered views of common public and non-political JACs despite holding indefinite agitation across the Seemandhra region.”

Instead of convincing the people, the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sushilkumar Shinde and A.K. Antony were creating confusion and differences between Seemandhra and Telangana people, they stated in the complaint.

Meanwhile, a large number of Samaikyandhra activists laid a siege to Anantapur MP Ananta Venkatrami Reddy’s residence demanding to quit his post and join the agitation.

The JAC leaders alleged that Reddy hoodwinked people of Anantapur in the name of resignation to MP post and also to Congress against the division process, but enjoying his post and also withdrew his decision of quitting the Congress.

Speaking at the protest near MP’s residence, the activists demanded Venkatrami Reddy to tender resignation to mount pressure on the Centre over speedy measures on carving out Telangana state.

Protests were reported at many places in the region where people tried to prevent the representatives at Rachchabanda programme as part of ongoing agitation.

In Kadapa, Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samiti took out different protests to expose the representatives against the state’s division, who have no concern towards the people’s agitation in the Seemandhra region.

They pasted posters opposing division process to all trains, inter-state buses and other transport services at Kadapa headquarters.
