Chennai: The Madras high court has ordered notice to the Commissioner of Police on a petition from film actress Anjali, alleging misappropriation of her assets by her aunt and uncle.
In her petition, Anjali, whose original name was Bala Thirupura Sundari, contended that she had been living in Hyderabad for her safety.
Her maternal aunt, Bharathi Devi, and her husband SuriÂbabu, had been threatening her and refusing to return to her the propÂerty, including an apartment, which was purchased in June 15, 2012, in ValasÂaravakkam.
They had also taken away Rs 57 lakh and 50 sovereigns of gold jewellery that belonged to her. She lodged a complaint against them with ValasÂarÂavakkam police in SeptÂember this year, but the police have not acted upon the complaint. Hence, she had filed the present petition. The judge adjourned the matter by a week.
