Kochi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has rejected the state government’s request to probe the sensational K.T. Jayakrishnan Master murder case.
The CBI stated that the case was obsolete as it happened 14 years back. According to sources, the CBI also considered the fact that the case was tried before a trial court and that CPM activist A. Pradeepan served a life term in the case. It is learnt that the state will file an appeal before the CBI seeking to reconsider the decision.
Pradeepan along with three others was sentenced to death for killing Jayakrishnan Master on December 1, 1999. The death sentence of the lower court was upheld by the Kerala High court.
However, the Supreme Court reduced the sentence to life term and freed all the other accused except Pradeepan. Pradeepan completed 10 years of his life term and was released. Jayakrishnan Master was murdered in a classroom of Mokeri High school in front of his students.
The state decided to hand over the case after Kodi Suni, the prime accused in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case, made some revelations in the Jayakrishnan Master murder case.
