Central Government withdraws Waste management rules.
Bengaluru: The Central Government on Wednesday submitted before the high court that it has withdrawn draft Municipal Solid Waste Management Rules 2013.
The Centre made the submission following the filing of a batch of petitions related to garbage mess in the Bengaluru. The central government had made public the draft on its official website while seeking response.
Following objections over the draft the matter came up before the high court, which had directed the central government to enforce the rules without the consent of the court. The government also informed that new rules will be drafted which shall be placed before the court for its consent, and, meanwhile, they have withdrawn their earlier draft.
The division bench comprising Justice N Kumar and Justice B V Nagaratna, said that the bench will visit the Yelahanka Biomethane plant on December 1, to inspect the mechanism and garbage disposal activities. It also directed the authorities to come up with a plan of action on setting up disposal and segregation of garbage in each assembly constituency in Bengaluru. The bench also directed the authorities to file a status report of financial expenditures with regard to the 41 new tender packages.
