Yeddyurappa breaks rules but continues stir

Yeddyurappa to continue his protest: Demands extension of Shaadi Bhagya to all communities.

Bengaluru: Refusing to give in to the request of Bengaluru city police to call off his dharna on the Shaadi Bhagya scheme and vacate the venue, former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa threatened to carry on even if he was arrested.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr Yeddyurappa accused the Congress government of trying to stop him from protesting on a sensitive issue. “I will continue to demand the extension of Shaadi Bhagya to all communities and not restrict it to the minorities”, he said.
“The Chief Minister does not have even the courtesy to consider my demand. Instead, he has criticised me for going on a dharna. This is nothing but arrogance”, Mr Yeddyurappa criticized.
“The other day, the government withdrew my security cover, now they have threatened to evict me. I’m ready to go jail”, he asserted.
A police officer arrived at the dharna spot at Gandhi statue near Maurya Hotel with a notice, asking the KJP supremo to vacate the place as rules do not permit a dharna at the same place for more than 8 days.
However, KJP leaders refused to accept the notice and clarified to the police officer that the party had obtained permission to carry on with the dharna at Gandhi statue till November 24. They also claimed that the city police commissioner had accepted the memorandum submitted by the KJP in this regard.
Mr Yeddyurappa expressed fears that the police may arrest him at any moment and forcibly vacate KJP workers from the dharna venue.
