Kochi: Actor Mammootty on Saturday offered his support to Justice Krishna Iyer’s movement seeking a cancer research institute and treatment centre in Kochi.
Mammootty visited Krishna Iyer to wish him on his 99th birthday which fell on Friday. He said that he was already associated with several palliative care movements and was happy to join the movement.
Justice Krishna Iyer handed over a letter to Mammootty seeking support for the programme.
Earlier, actors Dileep and Innocent had joined the movement. Innocent had also submitted a memorandum to the chief minister.
Justice Krishna Iyer, at another function, urged the judges of Kerala high court to eradicate corruption. He added that judges were not above criticisms.
“Judges should be very careful while delivering judgments. Judges should do justice to the common people,” he added.
“A large number of people showered birthday wishes on me; I still feel that so much has to be done for the people,” Justice Iyer said during the birthday celebration held here in the evening.
