Vellore:?A vehicle check squad, headed by Ranipet DSP Lavanya, on Friday late night seized 151 pieces of costly rosewood from a tipper lorry proceeding to Walajapet from the border areas of Andhra Pradesh.
According to Ranipet police inspector Parthasarathy, the rosewood pieces, cut into 5ftX6ft, estimated to be worth around Rs 5 lakh, were hidden under some iron construction material. The driver gave evasive replies to the police team. Upon suspicion, when the team checked the vehicle, they detected the rosewood that were brought without valid permit.
