‘Modi daydreaming of becoming PM’
Koppal: Taking a swipe at Gujarat chief minister and the NDA’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said he was unaware of the problems the country faces.
Speaking to reporters at Yelburga, about 40 km from here on Sunday, the Chief Minister said Modi had not yet entered national politics. “He is still chief minister of a state and is day-dreaming of becoming prime minister. His dream will not come true”, he remarked.
Several countries including the USA bore the burnt of the economic meltdown. However, the recession did not affect India because of the farsightedness of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and the UPA government. Modi needs to compare the GDP growth during the UPA government’s tenure with that of the NDA government, Siddaramaiah said.
Dismissing reports that Modi would have an influence on Karnataka politics, the Chief Minister accused state BJP leaders of bringing people to the Modi rally in Bengaluru in buses spending about Rs 25 crore.
“Narendra Modi has been the chief minister of Gujarat for the past 12 years. That state is at 10th place in terms of development. What did he do for Gujarat as CM? Can Modi, who failed to do good in his own state, build the nation?” he asked.
