Kollam: Kavitha Pillai, the prime accused in the medical seat fraud, will be produced before the CJM court on Wednesday after her two-day remand in police custody.
According to police, Kavitha Pillai had swindled around Rs 2.70 crore from various persons on the pretext of securing them medical seats.
She was taken into custody on the charges of swindling Rs 13 lakh from Vimal Kumar, a resident of Kottathala here.
According to police, he handed over the money at an institution named AKS University Service Centre owned by Rash Lal, son of a former CPM district committee member. Kavitha has offered to give the money back to Vimal Kumar.
Police said her partner Rash Lal had taken money from 60 persons promising them medical seats.
Kavitha had also received RS 12 lakh from the wife of a policeman at the Kottiyam police station through an agent, Annan of Thiruvananthapuram. This case has been registered at the Channoor police station and would be considered by the court soon.
