Sab kuch bhala 'Chang'a here!

Singer and actor Meiyang Chang speaks with us in a tête-à-tête

Kuch dino se, he has been on a roll. And how? Meiyang Chang who was in the city for a performance at two different venues, spoke to us in a freewheeling chat. He is also releasing his latest single called 'Kuch Dino Se' in Bengaluru.

“The song is already playing on a few channels. I got so busy with acting, anchoring, hosting shows and travelling around the world, that singing took a backseat for a while. After winning the 'Indian Idol', I have been wanting to make this track for a while and the process of doing so has been a cathartic experience. Also, wherever I went, my fans wanted me to sing more often," shares Chang, who performed at Hard Rock Café and IIMB with Shilpa Rao. “Shilpa Rao and I have known each other for many years and we both belong to Jharkhand. She's always encouraged me to sing. She's loony and crazy, like how artistes should be and I'm trying to imbibe her sense of humour," he states. Chang heads to Delhi on the weekend with singers of repute like Vishal Dadlani, Rabbi Shergill, Shruti Pathak, Swanand Kirkire and others for the Aam Aadmi party.

Recalling his last tour Temptation Reloaded with Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Rani Mukherji, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yo Yo Honey Singh, to packed houses of Bollywood buffs in Auckland and Sydney, Chang reveals, “I had worked with SRK before when he had come on my TV shows for promos. I was also the official host for the multi city 'Ra.One' film tour. SRK is the most humble star I have ever met. He is not shy of accepting his mistakes and has the ability of making people around him feel special. We bonded very well and I will never forget the night we were leaving Auckland and going to Sydney on October 6, which also happened to be my birthday. He hosted a special dinner for me at a Thai restaurant, ordered a cake and gave me a book by Stephen King. It had a personalised message that read, 'I love what you're doing'. We are starting our next leg of the tour with Dubai after which we will head to Fiji."

Getting candid about how Chang spent his college years in Bengaluru, he gets nostalgic and jests, “I had my first drink in this pub city. I think it was at the Latitude pub and that time there were no deadlines on the nightlife. Also, Bengaluru has helped build my confidence. After five years of college, I worked for a year with Jacob who taught me how to multi-task and that has helped me a great deal now as I juggle many hats singing, acting and hosting.
