Mixed reaction to IB Chief’s remarks on Telengana

IB Chief Syed Ibrahim gets support form Seemandhra Congress leaders for his controversial comments.
Hyderabad: The comments reportedly made by Chief of Intelligence Bureau Syed Ibrahim found support from Seemandhra Congress leaders while Telangana Congress leaders condemned it.
Speaking at DGPs and IGPs conference in Delhi on Thursday, the IB chief said creation of Telangana is not an issue confined to Andhra Pradesh alone, that the new state will bring new security challenges across the country. Law minister Erasu Pratap Reddy, infrastructure minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, government whip R. Padma Raju and MLC Paladugu Venkat Rao, while speaking to reporters on Friday, said the IB chief's statement was similar to what Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy had told the Group of Ministers. But the Chief Minister’s views were not taken seriously.
Now, the IB chief has endorsed the Chief Minister’s observations. Earlier, Srinivasa Rao said, “Prime Minister Manmohan Singh did not attend the Chogam conference in view of the sentiments of the Tamil people, then why does the Centre not take Seemandhra people’s sentiments into account.”?Srinivasa Rao expressed hope that the process of state bifurcation will stop.
Pratap Reddy criticised the Centre for not looking at Seemandhra’s concerns. If the state is bifurcated without deciding the future of Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar projects it will give rise to more problems. He added that if state bifurcation is inevitable then people of Anantapur and Kurnool districts will demand Rayala-Telangana state. Meanwhile, Telangana Congress MLC K. Yadava Reddy called the IB chief an idiot for making the statement. He added that Kiran Kumar Reddy has no idea about Naxalism in Seemandhra region.
“President Pranab Mukherje is not a rubber stamp, he will stall the procedure,” he hoped. He also said that they have great faith in the Supreme Court. Minister Ganta said that they have no
plans to move a 'No Confidence Motion' against the Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar.
He added that if state bifurcation is inevitable then people of Anantapur and Kurnool districts will demand Rayala-Telangana state.
