Bhadran’s aide makes his moves
Jojo Varghese is all set to make a comeback with his new flick 'Neeyum Pinne Njanum', starring a bunch of fresh faces. Jojo joined Mollywood with 'Ravanan' starring Kalabhavan Mani after which he went on a long hiatus.
Talking about the break, Jojo says, “It was a deliberate break. I was looking for a good story to work on and I was doing a Tamil project too. I discovered the film world when I started working as assistant to Bhadran sir. I still work for him and I was working on a script with him during the break. He is a perfectionist and we used to work on a scene for months to make it better until we are satisfied,” says Jojo.
He recalls that he was passionate about films from his childhood, but something he never recognised until he joined Bhadran as an assistant director. “In my hometown Chalakkudy, director Lohithadas was my neighbour and Kalabhavan Mani was my classmate. On the way to school, I would peek into Lohithadas’s house and see him discussing films with actors. So, in some way, I developed a subtle connection with films. But I didn’t realise it until I met Bhadran sir.” Adding, “I went to Madras for a discussion on music with Raveendran sir. That is where I met Bhadran sir. Raveendran sir told him that I have a good handwriting and recommended that he take me as an assistant director. Working with Bhadran sir was one of the best things to happen to me, something I will always cherish. He taught me the nuances of filmmaking and instilled confidence to experiment.”
Talking about his new projects, Jojo says, “I am working on my next flick 'Neeyum Pinne Njanum'. The movie deals with a new subject and we thought of bringing fresh faces for that. The story revolves around the events happening in a house on a hartal day. The shoot has started in Kozhikode. The shoot of my Tamil film has wrapped up and we are planning to release it in the new year.”
