IB’s Rayala-Telangana move draws heavy flak

Central Intelligence Bureau officials seeking the opinions of party leaders on the Rayala-Telangana proposal draws flak.

Hyderabad: Central Intelligence Bureau officials seeking the opinions of party leaders on the Rayala-Telangana proposal draws flak. The IB officials, for the past two days, have been making calls to political party leaders from Telangana, including the TD, TRS, and the Congress asking for their reactions to the proposal. Several leaders talked to the media and said they were totally against the proposal.

Senior Congress legislator and former minister R. Damodara Reddy on Monday told media that he had received calls from IB officials who sought to know his reaction on Rayala-Telangana. “I told them that it is not workable and there is no sense in seeking such information now after everything is over,” Damodara Reddy said.

Former minister and TD legislator M. Narasimhulu also confirmed he got a call from the IB officials, whom he told was not a good idea. “There are attempts to scuttle the Telangana state, the Centre is trying to dilute the whole Telangana issue by making such proposals,” Narasimhulu said.

TJAC chairman Prof. Kodandaram condemned IB officials for making calls to politicians now after the Centre has taken the decision to create Telangana state with 10 districts. Earlier, TRS legislator K.T Rama Rao also reacted with a similar response.

Reacting to these calls, former minister J.C. Diwakara Reddy who has been advocating the Rayala-Telangana said he was most delighted about the development, and is still hopeful of a positive solution to the bifurcation issue. He added that most leaders in Telangana whom he spoke to were open to the Rayala-Telangana proposal but were not willing admit it in public.
