Without mincing words, the Master Blaster had asked the media to stop focusing on his son, Arjun.

When asked if he would follow his father’s footsteps.

“I would say, leave him (Arjun) alone. Please don’t expect him to perform just because his father has performed. If that would have been the case, I should have had a pen in my hand as my father was a professor. I will let the Almighty decide his script,” Tendulkar had clearly stated. Saif has confessed that it is unfair to expect Ibrahim, his 12-year-old, to perform like his grandfather Mansoor Ali Khan Patuadi or his great grandfather Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi. Even Jaya Bachchan had talked about how her son Abhishek Bachchan would have to bear the cross of being Amitabh Bachchan’s son.

Sandalwood actress Meghna Raj, born to reputed SouthIndian actors, Sundar Raj and Pramila Joshai, asserts, "It is de-motivating, as it impacts your emotional wellbeing. Of course there is pressure on us, which is unfair because barring our lineage, we are all just newcomers. We aren’t allowed to live with our failures, or learn from the mistakes we make. Adding to that, if we don’t meet the set expectations, we are written off." Former athlete Reeth Abraham understood the pressure on her kids and says that she has never forced a career option on them. "My son plays soccer and I make it a point to attend most of his matches. They do not have to be athletes just because their mother was one," she asserts.

However, actor Arshad feels that the pressure is required.

"Star kids have the luxury of getting everything on a platter, which most other children their age don’t. They get the best of everything. I don’t think the pressure is so much that it could adversely affect a kid’s wellbeing, unless of course, if your father is Mr Bachchan," he concludes
