10-year-old girl raped in Delhi
New Delhi: A 10-year-old girl was allegedly picked up from outside her house and raped by an unidentified man in South-East Delhi's Govindpuri area.
The incident took place at around 8 pm on Wednesday when the girl was playing outside her house. However, when her parents came out, they could not find her.
After searching for her in the neighbourhood, the parents filed a missing compliant with the Govindpuri police station. The girl, however, returned home at around midnight in a dishevelled state with bruises all over her body.
"The victim told her parents that when she was playing outside, a man approached her and threatened to get her beaten up by her parents. He then took her to an isolated location nearby and raped her," said a police official.
The girl's parents approached police and registered a complaint of rape and the girl was rushed to AIIMS Trauma centre. "The girl has injuries on her private parts and bruises all over her body. She is undergoing treatment in the hospital," the official said.

Jaipur: A 25-year-old reporter of a local TV news channel was allegedly molested by a retired officer of Jaipur Dairy at his residence in Sanganer area here yesterday, the police said on Thursday.
The victim, who lodged an FIR with the Sanagner police station, had first come in contact with accused Ranveer Singh Godara on Facebook and chat and then she was invited by Godara at his residence on Wednesday to give her 'a newsbreak' on Jaipur dairy, ACP Bagh Singh Rathore said.
When the woman went to his residence, he was allegedly drunk and indulged in teasing and molestating her, the ACP said, adding the girl immediately informed the police through her friend.
Godara was arrested and produced before a local magistrate court at Sanganer which sent him to 14-day judicial remand, Rathore told PTI. He was booked under section 354 (B) of IPC for assault or using criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, he said.
The victim's claim of working for a TV news channel was being checked as per the documents she submitted, the ACP said adding it was also being verified whether Godara was the Managing Director or Secretary of the dairy firm.

New Delhi: A 60-year-old man has been sent to imprisonment till the rising of the court by a Delhi court for making hoax call in 2010 to a private airlines that some terrorists have boarded the flight and they may be carrying explosives.
Metropolitan Magistrate Jagminder Singh held Raj Bajaj guilty after he admitted his guilt through plea bargaining. He had been convicted under section 182 IPC (giving false information with an intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person) and section 66 A (hacking with computer) of Information and Technology Act.
The court noted that the man had paid Rs 30,000 and Rs 25,000 compensation to complainant Nilesh Madurwar, Manager of Security of Indigo Airlines, and to the Delhi government respectively. It took into account "the nature of the offence", the facts and circumstances of the present case and "the economic, social and family background of the convict, ailing physical conditions of convict and the fact that convict has admitted his guilt and compensated the complainant and apologised for the same..."
"...And in view of beneficial provision of plea bargaining and reformative theories of punishment, convict (Bajaj) is sentenced with simple imprisonment till rising of the court with a fine of Rs 1,000 for the offences...," the court said.
The airlines manager had said in his complaint that on September 3, 2010, Bajaj had made a hoax call from his mobile to the office of Indigo Airlines stating that he got an information from his friend that some terrorists had boarded the flight 6E 309 from Lucknow and they may be carrying some explosives.
An FIR was lodged at Domestic Airport Police Station here. The message was conveyed to all the officials concerned and the aircraft was taken into an isolated parking area and all the security checks were carried out, he said. He said after the primary investigation, the bomb threat assessment committee declared that it was a hoax call which caused unnecessary fear and panic among the passengers, staff and other agencies, besides heavy financial loss to the airline and the authorities.
A Hyderabad resident, Bajaj apologised for his guilt and sought leniency on the ground that he was not a previous convict and was obese and suffering from kidney, heart and other health problems.

Khammam (AP): Two SSC students were severely beaten up by a teacher at Dharmaram, a remote village in Wajedu mandal, 260 km from Khammam, on Monday. The incident came to light on Wednesday.
Sources said that one B. Naresh, a vidya volunteer working at the high school, allegedly beat up T. Sai Teja and B. Hari Kumar with a stick on Monday for failing to purchase notebooks.
Sai Teja suffered a fracture on his left hand, while Hari Kumar suffered a severe blow on his right eye.
Sai Teja was rushed to a private hospital at Bhadrachalam for treatment. The whereabouts of Hari and his parents were not available. The boy was treated locally.
Expressing anguish over the incident, Sai Teja’s grandfather Krishnarjuna Rao said that the teacher should have warned the student instead of assaulting him. “How can we, living in an abject poverty, buy books?” he asked, demanding stringent action against the teacher.
When asked about the incident, school headmaster L. Srinivasa Rao tried to defend the teacher by stating that the student’s hand was already broken. However, it has been learnt that the headmaster was on leave on Monday when the incident occurred
As per reports, there was an altercation between the parents of both the students and the school teachers soon after the incident.
The school management tried to buy peace with the parents and requested them to not publicise the incident, sources said. However, it didn’t work out, and soon the news leaked out.
Taking a serious note of the incident, Chintoor panchayat sarpanch Chinta Sammaiah lodged a complaint with the mandal education officer?at Wajedu.

Hyderabad: Tainted Nims cardiologist Dr D. Seshagiri Rao’s wife was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a penthouse of their residence on Wednesday.
D. Vijaya Lakshmi, 45, had been missing for four days. Jubilee Hills police officials said that though she had most probably committed suicide, they were probing other angles too.
Jubilee Hills inspector V. Pradeep Kumar Reddy said that initial examination showed that Vijaya Lakshmi had consumed sleeping pills.
“She had been taking sleeping pills for the last four years since she was suffering from depression. We suspect that she consumed a lethal dose which caused her death,” he said, adding that the real cause of her death would, however, be revealed after post-mortem.
Foul smell helped track woman's body
The body of Nims cardiologist Dr D. Seshagiri Rao’s wife was found in a storeroom after the penthouse was checked to investigate a foul smell.
The cops said that there were no marks on D. Vijaya Lakshmi’s body. Sources from the locality said that Dr Rao and his wife had fought four days ago and she had gone out of the house.
When she did not return, Rao checked with her friends and relatives but no one had a clue about her whereabouts.
“Rao had lodged a missing complaint in the station stating that his wife was missing. We had booked a case and started an investigation,” said the inspector.
However, questions arose as the householders had failed to check all the rooms of the building in the last three days after she went missing.
Police booked a case under CrPC 174 for suspicious death and has started investigating.
Rao had been caught red-handed by Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.6 lakh from a stent supplier in January this year.

Melbourne: A 32-year-old Indian woman has died in Australia after suffering serious burn injuries, prompting police to launch a probe into her 'horrendous and horrific' death.
Parwinder Kaur died on Tuesday after she suffered 85 per cent burns on her body. Accoridng to Sydney Morning Herald, the detectives were now probing as to how she was doused in petrol and caught fire. Her body was engulfed in flames from head to toe and she collapsed in her driveway.
The report said that her neighbours saw Kaur who ran screaming and on fire from her Rouse Hill home on Monday. Police said her 34-year-old husband Kulwinder Singh tried stamp out the fire with his own hands. Kaur had dialed emergency number for help.
"She ran screaming from the house," one neighbour said, adding "She was on fire." Another witness said she was burnt from the neck down. "There was nothing left of her clothes. [Her husband] was screaming and she had a blanket over her, still smouldering."
Detective Superintendent Rob Critchlow said Singh had been interviewed but there were conflicting versions of events. "It's a really horrendous, horrific death and very traumatic for the neighbours that assisted," Critchlow said.
Police said that Kaur had them earlier this year to report a domesitc argument and the issue was resolved peacefully.

Visakhapatnam: After a year, the Vizag city police, with the help of Mumbai cops, has arrested Anees Saghir Khan, 32, the prime accused involved in the daylight robbery at the Nanditha Jewellery shop in the city.
The police recovered 220 gms of gold ornaments, worth around Rs 5.5 lakh from the accused. Though the police solved the case on October 19, 2012 by arresting three of the eight criminals involved, they had failed to recover the stolen property.
Police commissioner B. Shivadhar Reddy on Wednesday said that a member of the inter-state dacoity gang made off with about 1,600 gms of gold and some silver ornaments from the Nanditha jewellery shop in Muralinagar area of the city after threatening shopowner R. Venkata Rao and his staff with firearms on September 25, 2012.
Saghir Khan is a notorious criminal involved in several cases of dacoity, kidnap and rape in Mumbai. He was a dossiered criminal and was convicted for seven years and jailed at the Nasik central prison.
Saghir established links with Manish Chowhan, James Almida and Mangesh Gaikward at the Nasik jail and after their release in 2011, decided to take to dacoity.
The police visited Bhind in MP and arrested Manish on October 19, 2012 and he revealed the involvement of two Navy men, leading seaman Santosh Kumar Singh, and chief petty officer Jagatha Ramakrishna.

Hyderabad: A 13-year-old boy burnt himself to death after he was accused of stealing his friend’s bicycle.
The incident happened in Poddugal of Shahbad police limits on Tuesday morning. Police said the deceased, Anil (not real name), bunked school to play with his friend Sunil (not real name).
Sunil asked him to bring his bicycle from home. While Anil was taking the bicycle, Sunil’s mother saw him and accused him of trying to steal the bicycle. She did not listen to Anil’s version that Sunil had asked him to get the bicycle.
Feeling insulted Anil returned home and set himself ablaze.
His father Anjaiah and other relatives immediately rushed him to the Osmania General Hospital where he died late on Tuesday night.

Inter boy commits suicide
Hyderabad: Unable to stay away from his parents and disliking his college hostel, a 16-year-old Intermediate student committed suicide at a residential junior college in Vanasthali-puram on Wednesday.
Ram Kumar (not real name), woke up early in the morning and hanged himself in one of the classrooms of the Sri Medha Junior College, in which he was studying.
He was staying in the college hostel. Police said that other students at the Sri Medha Junior College in Vanasthalipuram reported seeing his body early on Wednesday.
The study hours start at 5.30 am but it is believed that he woke up at around 3.30 am, went into one of the classrooms, and hanged himself from the fan. His suicide note blamed no one.
However, other students reached the classroom for the study hours at the designated time and discovered his hanging body.
Police said he left a suicide note blaming nobody but wrote that he “disliked the hostel and was unable to stay away from his home.”
His parents lived in Ramanthapur but still put him up at the residential college. His parents didn’t blame the college authorities.
Police also ruled out any harassment by the college authorities. A case has been registered under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Bangalore: Chaos and tension prevailed on ITPL Main Road near Hoodi after a two-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly mowed down by a speeding gas tanker in K.R. Puram traffic police limits on Wednesday morning.
The victim, Dhanushree, was the daughter of Suresh and Nagalakshmi, residents of Whitefield.
The incident occurred around 8.45 am when Nagalakshmi and Dhanushree were travelling on a two-wheeler along with Nagalakshmi’s brother. As they approached Hoodi Circle near Rajapalya on ITPL Main Road, the speeding gas tanker allegedly swerved suddenly to the left, hitting the victims’ two-wheeler.
The impact made Nagalakshmi and her brother to fall to the left side of the road, while Dhanushree fell on the right.
The rear wheels of the tanker ran over the little girl, crushing her to death instantly. The tanker driver, Kumaraswamy, abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot.
Over 200 angry residents, relatives of the victim and passersby gathered at the spot and started pelting the tanker with stones. The protesters also set a tyre on fire.
The K.R. Puram police rushed to the spot and pacified the crowd, saying justice would be done.
The protest held up the traffic on the busy main road to the city’s IT corridor for nearly three hours. The protest abated only around 11.30 am, allowing the traffic to return to normal.
The police apprehended Kumaraswamy by Wednesday evening and brought him to the station for questioning. A case has been registered by the K R Puram traffic police and further investigations are on.

Bangalore: In a freak accident caused by suspected rash driving coupled with alleged negligence, a seven-year-old schoolboy was knocked down by a school bus on the premises of his school in Wilson Garden traffic police limits on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim, Manish C., a first standard student, was the son of Mahesh C., a civil contractor, and Asha, a housewife. The family stays on 5th cross, Sudhamanagar, just a stone’s throw away from Outreach School on BTS Road, where Manish studied.
The police said the incident occurred around 2.45 pm on Wednesday. Manish had finished classes and was out on the school playground with his classmates. He was walking towards the school gates as it was an everyday affair for Manish’s parents to pick him up. An allegedly speeding school bus (KA-01-B-3608) that was carrying other schoolchildren knocked him down.
Manish sustained serious head injuries and was rushed by school authorities to a nearby private nursing home, where he died. But Manish’s parents were informed only around 3.30 pm.
Boy’s uncle Satish C. told Deccan Chronicle, “Manish was in the school grounds when the front wheel of the school bus ran over him, fatally wounding him. Mahesh and Asha had not yet reached the school to pick up their son. We had no idea of the accident until we got a call from our cousins whose children also study at Outreach School. They told us that the school officials had rushed Manish to Agadi Hospital claiming he only needed ‘first aid’, when in fact he died there. We only got to know of the accident by 3.30 pm.”
The boy's body was sent to Bowring Hospital for the post-mortem. The police arrested the driver of the school bus, identified as Praveen, and took him in for questioning on Wednesday evening. The authorities of Outreach School remained unavailable for comment. The Wilson Garden traffic police have filed a case against them.

Cops get CCTV footage in Nachappa theft case
Bangalore: The police investigating the theft of debit cards belonging to former Olympian Ashwini Nachappa have got the CCTV footage from the ATM centre where the thief withdrew cash using the stolen card.
A source in the investigating team said the police contacted the bank authorities and it was found that the cash was withdrawn from Yes Bank ATM in Jayanagar third block.
“Based on that information, CCTV footage was retrieved from the ATM centre. But the visuals are not clear in the footage. We could only make out that the thief is aged around 40-45 years,” the source said.
The police are yet to know the other ATM from where the thief withdrew cash.
The case has been transferred to Tilaknagar police station as the place of occurrence fell under its jurisdiction.
Ashwini Nachappa’s two debits cards were stolen when she attended a sports meet at Kittur Rani Chennamma Grounds in Jayanagar on Tuesday morning. The thief withdrew Rs 2.4 lakh using the cards in two ATM centres.

Bangalore: Depressed over his financial woes and inability to repay loans, a 45-year-old employee of a private firm allegedly hung himself from a stone structure in a park in Sanjaynagar police limits on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as G Kumar, a resident of Nagashettyhalli. Kumar is survived by his wife, Nethravathi, and their two school-going children.
Police said Kumar had allegedly taken numerous loans from money lenders and friends, and was not in a position to repay them. Upset by this, he is thought to have decided to end his life.
Police suspect that Kumar went to a park on BEL road early Wednesday, where he used a rope to hang himself from a stone structure that had been constructed inside the park.
Early morning walkers who entered the park around 7.30 am alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted Kumar’s body to M S Ramaiah hospital for post-mortem.
No suicide note was found, but police suspect financial troubles to be the reason for Kumar’s suicide. The Sanjaynagar police have registered a case of unnatural death, and further investigations are on.

Chennai: Two students , one doing B.Tech and another, B.Com were caught smuggling 8 kg of ganja into the city from Madurai on Wednesday by the police.
The two, who had made a few trips to a village near Usilampatti in Madurai in search of good quality ganja over the past few months, sold it to students of two leading engineering colleges, according to the police.
But their luck ran out during a routine vehicle check by the police, who stopped the auto they were travelling in Mylapore on returning from one such trip.
While Aravind, 21, is a second year B.Tech student of Cornerstone School of International Studies, the other Sidharth, 19, is doing his B.Com with his sights set on becoming a chartered accountant, going by the police.

Chennai: Burglars went on the rampage in Perambur area looting cash from a temple hundi and nearby shops on Tuesday night.
According to sources, the burglars broke into two medical shops, a department store, electrical shop on P.V street in Vyasarpadi and nearby Sembium areas and fled with Rs 50,000.
Similarly, a temple hundi on Vadivel street in Perambur was also broke open, the sources said.
The shopkeepers who had come for their business as usual on Wednesday were in for a shock as the locks were broken open and the cash from the cash box missing.
Based on a complaint by Satish, 48, who runs a medical shop in Perambur, the police registered a case and are investigating.
Based on a tip-off, Sembium crime inspector, M.Deepak Kumar and his team zeroed in on the accused and around 11 am on Wednesday, one person was held at the Perambur railway station on suspicion, the police said.
After initial investigations, he was identified to be one of the burglars, a police release said. Moorthy, 23, a Theni native, was found to be a serial offender and Rs 35,000 was retrieved from him, the police said.
A special team has been formed to hunt down Moorthy’s accomplice, Karthik. The accused was remanded in judicial
custody.

Nizamabad: A 23-year-old man committed suicide allegedly in protest against the proposed Rayala Telangana.
According to sources, Mukire Ramulu of Hasanpally village in Nizamsagar mandal, consumed pesticide on Tuesday night at his house. His parents found him lying dead on Wednesday morning.
A suicide note, purportedly written by Ramulu, was found beside him. The note said Centre should declare Telangana state with 10 districts, not Rayala Telangana.
Ramulu who studied M.Sc, completed B.Ed recently and had been preparing for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) to be held on December 29.
Ramulu is reported to have resorted to the extreme step depressed over the delay in carving out of Telangana state.
Ramulu is the younger son of Mukire Durgaiah couple. Meanwhile, Jukkal Telugu Desam MLA Hanmanth Shinde rushed to Hasanpally and paid tribute to the youth.
The MLA along with Telangana protagonists staged a rasta roko demanding that the UPA government declare separate Telangana state with 10 districts and Hyderabad as its capital.
The Centre should react immediately and made it clear that Rayala T was shelved, in order to prevent more tragic incidents like this, he said.
Banswada TRS MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy also visited the bereaved family members.
Bodhan DSP Gouse Moinuddin convinced the MLA Shinde and others to withdraw their agitation. Nizamsagar police shifted the body for post mortem and registered a case.

Nellore: The police has apprehended a gang involved in stealing 13 trucks in several parts of SPSR Nellore district since a year and has recovered five vehicles and some parts of lorries worth Rs 35 lakh from them on Tuesday night.
The accused have been identified as Ganti Ramanaiah, 40, of Babu Jagjivanram Nagar, Nellore, Varganti Ramesh, 25, of Nelavai village in Buchinaidukandriga mandal of Chittoor district, M. Subhramanyam, 23, and P. Sattivelu, 27, of Ramalingapuram village in Vardayyapalem mandal of Chittoor district.
SP P.V.S. Ramakrishna said that Ramanaiah is the kingpin of the gang and they used to steal trucks, tippers and lorries and sell the parts at Red Hills near Chennai after dismantling the vehicles in the forest area near Kalki Ashram at Varadayyapalem.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, the SP said that there are cases against the gang in Nellore V Town, VI Town police limits apart from Nayudupeta, Tada, Podalakur and Kovur police stations.
He said that a police team led by Central Crime Station inspector P. Veeranjaneya Reddy arrested the accused. The SP announced rewards for the investigation team.

Visakhapatnam: Police of the crime wing, III Town police station, on Wednesday, arrested three burglars of a five-member gang and recovered 151 gms of gold ornaments, 2,500 gms of silver ornaments and some foreign currency from them.
The gang burgled the flat of M. Bhanoji Rao at Sea Shells Apartment at Daspalla Hills on January 18, 2013.
One other member of the gang, T. Sateesh, was arrested a month ago, in connection with another burglary.
Sateesh, along with seven others, burgled the house sometime ago. Commissioner of police, B. Shivadhar Reddy said the trio arrested include Praveen Kumar, 25, a B.Sc graduate of Yarada, his friends P. Ramesh, 24, and Raju, 37. Praveen and Ramesh rented flat No. 303 at Sea Shells to burgle other flats in the complex.
The duo, with the help of their friends Raju, Ravi and Sateesh, gained entry into Bhanoji Rao’s flat, no. 107, by removing the window grills.
Shivadhar Reddy said Praveen Kumar took to burglary to lead a lavish life. A manhunt has been launched to nab Ravi.
