Crafted with trendy tadka
The charming Madhuvanti Ravi, is a versatile designer who weaves glamour into an otherwise normal outfit through Tadka.
Her sense of fashion, which spells comfort and chic, has earned her laurels and she is now debuting as a costume designer for an untitled, highly anticipated Telugu flick.
This delightful designer gets talking about her love for the arts and the Bengaluru market that she adores.
“I have always wanted to be a part of the fashion world. My love for designing goes back to the day I started draping myself in sarees and sashaying around my room at the age of 12," says the chirpy designer.
Her fashion label Tadka is all about contemporary Indo-Western wear and features a wide range of clothing. She explains, “The distinction in my clothes is that they can be teamed with any thing to create your own tadka (or) style."
Madhuvanti finished her course at Pearl Academy of Fashion and had been juggling jobs in merchandise and designing.
The idea of opening her own label came when she realised that her heart was in creating customised outfits. “I loved experimenting and creating. I think that's why I have had a successful tryst with designing. With the same confidence, I launched my brand and started distributing the clothes," she exclaims. Her mission was to create work wear and designer outfits to fit the bill of the next-door girl, “Usually designer clothes are quite expensive but I wanted to break that norm and create something that is affordable."
Her clothes are priced between Rs 750 to 2,000 and are available at The Whimsy Store and on her webpage.
Apart from designing, she also wanted to explore opportunities in filmdom and took to assisting costume designers for a while. Speaking about her current solo debut in an untitled movie where she will be designing clothes for the actress, she quips, “Designing for cinema is quite different, as there is freedom to explore your choices and the customisation of the style are way ahead of the times."
When not designing, she loves dancing and travelling in search of interesting fabrics. A Bharathanatyam dancer, Madhuvanti says, “Dance is my other passion and is the space which I retire to when I am stressed."
