A ‘dreamy’ venture
At 19, a teenager would be busy dreaming end lessly of the days to come. But Rohith Subramaniam, a Chennai boy, who is currently studying in Bengaluru is working towards turning other people's dream into reality.
Though his crowd-funded website, Fund My Dream is yet to launch officially, it has been creating a lot of buzz in the social media.
Like any other youngster his age, Rohith is bursting with life which becomes evident in the first five minutes of the conversation. For all technical purposes, this lad started interning at the age of 15 and went on to make the blue print of a business that he hoped to start at a later stage in life.
Speaking of Fund My Dream he says, “It is for those who have the talent, but do not have the wherewithal to stage it. The dream can be anything - arts, dance, publishing, music, photography, theatre, events, start ups, NGO, sports and more. As long as it is a genuine idea which has a timeline to it, we will help."
So where does the funding come from?
“If the panel members approve of the idea/concept, we will then help him or her make and manage their social media pages and reach out to people. We will also be the driving force that will help materialise that idea and give it a solid end result," he adds.
The funding for the project, Rohith says will come from family, friends and anonymous users on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
According to the teenager, the unique selling point of this website is that each project will be personally looked after. “We are a team of six core and 15 support members, all of whom are college students from the city and are dedicated to help," he reveals.
The final-year student who is studying inte grated MBA also started an NGO called Unity of Youth that works towards empowering and unifying the youth of the country for the betterment of the society. This boy sleeps barely for four hours and the rest 20 are spent on the NGO and Fund My Dream and in college. He also travels as often as possible.
One wonders if he has more than 24 hours in his day?
“My days are always packed and I love it. Whenever I get a little time, I pack my bags and head to the Himalayas," says the biker who just rode from Bengaluru to Delhi and back in eight days.
