Destiny’s children: 23 babies keep date with 11.12.13

At that time we did not realise the date’s significance, now, we are happy, says a parent.

Bangalore: Ashutosh and Shweta are elated that their baby was born on 11.12.13. They had not planned for it.

Ashutosh, who works in the IT sector and has lived and worked in Bangalore for 11 years now, said that Shweta’s date for delivery was around this weekend.

“On Tuesday she had to undergo a scan and the position of the baby was such that the doctor said that the delivery has to be done on Wednesday.”

Shweta had a caesarean section at Apollo Cradle. “When our baby was delivered on 11.12.13, we were overjoyed.

The fancy date and our first baby… I felt as if I was on cloud nine,” said Ashutosh.

Radhika Sood also delivered a baby at 11.43 am on 11.12.13 at Manipal Hospital. Husband Gaurav says the doctor Radhika was seeing had given the date 11.12.13 about four months ago.

“At that time we did not realise the date’s significance. But now, when everyone is talking about the date, we are really happy. It’s a baby boy and our first child. It is a different type of feeling,” said Gaurav.

Dr Gayathri Karthik, gynaecologist at Manipal Hopsital, told Deccan Chronicle: “Since morning I have handled four deliveries and all four were not planned. The fancy date 11.12.13, to have their baby has doubled the joy of all the couples.”

There were planned deliveries too. Apollo Cradle had about four planned caesarean deliveries.

Manipal had four and at Cloudnine, of the 19 deliveries on November 11, eight were planned to coincide with the date and 11 were normal deliveries, said Dr Kishore Kumar, CEO, Cloud nine.
