Didi keeps all doors open
New Delhi: The Trinamul is apparently keeping all its option open for the post-poll scenario. Though Mamata Banerjee indicated that her party is fighting against the Congress, CPM, and the BJP, sources close to her claimed that barring BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, her party could consider giving support to a BJP-led coalition.
“Dangai face nahi hona chahiye (it should not be a face of communal riots)” is the pre-condition for Trinamul support to a coalition coming to power at the Centre.
The Trinamul chief said that she won’t like to see a repetition of 1990s when government came and went in one year. “We will like stability at the Centre,” Ms Banerjee said on Wednesday.
Asked repeatedly whether she would support Modi in the post-poll scenario, Ms Banerjee said, “I will not say anything if you ask about individuals.”.
The West Bengal Chief Minister, who spent a couple of days in the national capital to guage the political pulse, ruled out possibility of a fractured mandate after next year’s Lok Sabha polls.
“There will be a clear mandate. People vote so that a government of elected representative is formed,” she said.
Ruling out any pre-poll alliance, Ms Banerjee said her party will take stock of the political situation after the Lok Sabha elections.
