Shakti Mohan dances her way back
Shakti Mohan has returned to the show 'Dil Dosti Dance' as Kria. Needless to say fans of Kria Rey (Kunwar Amar) are elated to have the pair back on screen.
Shakti, who was in New York to train in different forms of dance, is happy to be back on the sets of her debut fiction show. Speaking about her experience in New York, the actress says, “It gave me an exposure to several international dance forms that I learnt to perform, choreograph and teach as well. It was amazing to see everyone, from four-year-olds to senior cititzens attend the same class."
Shakti admits that although she quit D3 two years ago, she was aware that her fans expected her to return.
“It has been crazy. These kids have been writing to me everyday - through snail mail and social networking sites. I thought it would stop after a while but the mails just kept pouring in. On the very day I returned, they sent me gifts, cake and someone even made a magazine of my pictures with Kunwar Amar. Channel V had been in touch with me and they were enthusiastic about my return. Now it feels like déja vu and I have comfortably settled back on the show," she says.
Besides the small screen, Shakti who had featured in the hit item number "Pallu Ke Neeche" from 'Rowdy Rathore', is back in another song for Subhash Ghai's film.
She says, “I have performed on the song with my sister Mukti while my other sister Neeti has sung it. It felt great since all three of us were part of it. A while ago, I had also performed on Neeti's song "Jiya Re" from' Jab Tak Hai Jaan' in D3 and Neeti got emotional seeing the performance," Shakti says.
While she is quite the fashionista on screen, the actress admits that she isn't fond of dressing up in real life. She says, “I dress up like a boy and I'm most comfortable in a pair of jeans and T-shirt. My sisters are the ones who are always well dressed. Mukti, especially, has a good taste in clothes."
The actress goes on to reveal that she has had her share of strange fan encounters. She says, “One fan reaction I keep getting is 'we thought you were taller.' Nobody has asked me to dance but fans keep showing off their skills when they meet me. A few days ago I met this little girl in a mall. She started doing a split right there, saying that she learnt it from me. Her parents too were encouraging her."
Shakti shares a crackling chemistry with Kunwar on screen, but she denies the possibility of them getting together in real life.
She says, “He is dating Charlie Chauhan, his 'Nach Baliye' partner. Fans keep saying we have an awesome chemistry. That's perhaps because we started out together on 'Dance India Dance'. It's okay, as long as fans love us."
