GS Shivarudrappa last rites tomorrow
Bangalore: The last rites of noted Kannada poet, Rashtrakavi Dr G.S. Shivarudrappa, will be held at Kala Grama on the Jnanabharathi campus on Thursday evening.
Dr Shivarudrappa passed away on Monday afternoon at his residence in BanÂasÂhankari. His mortal reÂmains were shifted to KIÂMS Hospital mortuary, as his younger son Dr. G S Shivaprasad is yet to arrive in the city from London.
On Tuesday morning, Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner G.C .Prakash, officials of Kannada and Culture department and members of GSS Trust inspected the venue, where the last rites will be conducted. Prakash said that Dr Shivarudrappa’s body will be taken to his residence on Thursday morning.
“It will be there for an hour and then will be shifted to Kannada Sahitya Parishath and then to Ravindra Kalakshetra, where the body will be kept for public viewing.
At 3.30 pm, the cortege will leave to Kala Grama, where the last rites will be held with state honours at 5 pm,” he said. Tributes will be paid through recital of his verses before the funeral.
