Bangalore: Making an oblique reference to his participation in a rally hosted by Backward Classes Federation, former union minister and Congress party senior leader M.V. Rajashekharan on Monday advised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah not to give an impression that he was identified with a particular community.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a senior leader who attended the KPCC election committee meeting, said, Rajashekaran, without naming any community, suggested that as CM, Siddaramaiah must give an impression that he was speaking about the whole state and for its people and not give an impression that he was the voice of a few.”

According to the source, Rajashekharan also told Siddaramaiah not to allow anyone to take ‘undue’ advantage while he was CM. “Whenever we are in power, people come to us with good and bad motives. A clever leader like you will be aware of this and as a leader, you must know, when to say No and when to say Yes,” the source said quoting Rajashekharan.

The senior leader also asserted that Siddaramaiah should build bridges across caste, creed and region. “There is lot of disparity, Siddaramaiah who knows about the plight of the downtrodden, must work hard in this regard," the source claimed.

The source added that Rajashekharan appealed to Siddaramaiah and KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar to work in tandem during the Lok Sabha elections. “They must move in the same direction.

If you try to weaken each other, it will have a catastrophic effect on the party's prospects. So, work unitedly,” Rajashekaran reportedly said. Sources said the chief minister and the KPCC president listened to him patiently.
