Nellore: In a bizarre incident, a 70-year-old man impregnated a minor girl aged around 14 at Munirathnam Nagar (also known as Malyakota) in Nayudupeta. The incident came to light after the mother of the victim lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday.

According to information, the minor girl is one among four girl children of Aaram Ramesh and Guravamma couple.

The couple work as farm labourers to make out a living and the victim is studying Class VIII at the ZP Higher Secondary School in Pudur, near Nayudupeta.

The accused A.L. Benjamin was retired from Army and has been living alone in a site allotted by the government at Munirathnam Nagar since last 10 years.

Locals respect him since he spends majority of his time to teach their children. The mother of the minor girl was working as servant maid in his home and the girl was also a frequent visitor to the house.

Taking advantage of this, he lured the minor girl and allegedly exploited her sexually. Locals along with members of a Mahila Mandali tied Benjamin to an electrical pole and thrashed him when he replied in a careless manner about the affair.

Police have taken the old man into custody after the residents of the area alerted them about the incident.

When contacted, Nayudu-peta circle inspector Rama Rao has said that they have registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the parents of the girl and are investigating. He said that they are yet to take the accused into custody.

Sources in the police said that not only Benjamin, two other minor boys also molested the girl along with him.

Hyderabad: A man allegedly beheaded his wife’s lover after catching them together at his residence in Tulasinagar of Borabanda. He then stuffed the body in a gunny bag and threw it on the roadside.

A police patrol found the body, and a manhunt was launched for the killer.


Police identified the victim as M. Sidhu, 35, an autorickshaw driver. It was found that Sidhu was having an affair with a married woman named Swarna. Sidhu, who hails from Bidar, was staying at Kukatpally; his wife had gone home for delivery.


Sanathnagar police said that Swarna’s husband Ravi, who works in a private company, attacked Sidhu while he was drunk. “When Ravi returned home at night after work, he found Sidhu in the house and attacked him with a sharp weapon. After the murder, he cut off the head, and stuffed the body into a bag and threw it by the roadside,” a police officer said.


“We found that Ravi and his wife Swarna had locked their house and had left abruptly, which raised suspicion,” he said. Police soon found the couple and took them into custody. During interrogation, Ravi confessed to the murder.

Hyderabad: A love affair between two neighbours living in the same apartment complex led to the murder of the man’s mother at Vanasthalipuram. The girl’s parents and relatives allegedly assaulted the man and his mother to end the affair.

D. Laxman, 28, who is a finance manager at a private company, was injured, while his mother D. Radha, 52, succumbed to her injuries in a hospital.

Laxman told the police that he was in love with the woman named Sushma, 24, for two-and-a-half years. However, her father Ramchandra Reddy alleged that Laxman had been pestering his daughter.

The incident occurred at Sri Sai Saptagiri Enclave on Tuesday evening. Around 20 people went to Laxman’s house, called him out and started an argument. It soon escalated into a fight and Radha tried to stop the attackers. She was allegedly hit by the attackers, and fell unconscious. She was shifted to a corporate hospital where she died.

The police said there were no major external injuries on her body. They said that she might have died due to internal injuries.

The cops booked a murder case against Ramachandra Reddy and his relatives. “We have booked a murder case against the 20 suspects involved in the case,” said Vanasthalipuram inspector P. Gopala Krishna Murthy.

Laxman said that he and Sushma were in love and wanted to get married. However, the girl’s parents did not approve of the relationship and asked her to end it. Recently, the parents had decided to get her married and had found a suitor.

Even after that, Laxman and Sushma continued to chat through SMS and networking sites, which was found out by Sushma’s father. Laxman said that on Tuesday, Ramchandra Reddy and his relatives came to his house, and asked him to hand over his mobile phone to delete all the messages sent by Sushma.

“When I refused to give it, they started to beat me up and tried to snatch my phone,” Laxman said.

Laxman’s mother tried to stop them but was allegedly attacked. Vanasthalipuram police have taken some people into custody while the others are absconding.

Chennai: The railway police on Tuesday arrested a 22-year-old man, a native of Bihar, on rape charges for allegedly molesting an 18-year-old German national, on a Chennai-bound tra­in from Mangalore three da­ys ago.

According to the railway police, the man had misbehaved with the girl when they travelled on the same train from Mangalore on January 11. The girl, working as a teacher in a primary school in Udipi, was returning to Chennai to meet her friends.

According to the girl's complaint, the man had touched the girl in an indecent manner after she fell asleep. They had shared the same berth in coach S-10 of the train as their tickets were not confirmed. The incident happened bet­ween 12 midnight and 1 am on January 11.

After the tra­in reached Chennai aro­und 3.30 pm, the girl, along with her friends, took up the issue with the German consulate after which a co­m­plaint was lodged with the railway police at Cen­tral station on Monday.

Based on the girl's compl­a­int, police narrowed do­wn on the man, identified as Chandan Kumar, a na­ti­ve of Bihar.

He was working with a furniture dealer at Kovur, near Kundra­th­ur, for the past four years, investigations revealed. A case under section 376 (ra­pe) of IPC was registered.

Chennai: A 22-year-old man, working in the credit card verification division of a private bank, was on Wednesday arrested eight months after he robbed a woman at knife-point at her residence in Puzhuthivakkam.

He was picked up after the police tracked the IMEI number of the phone he stole from the house.

According to the police, the well-dressed man had, in the first week of April 2013, approached Radhik­a, 34, when she was alone in her apartment in Puzhuthivakkam.

He claimed that he had come from her daughter’s school and that her daughter had met with a minor accident at school. He said the school had asked him to fetch her.

The woman believed him, his attire and manner not arousing any suspicion, a police officer said.

She let him inside the apartment after he asked for water. But he tied her up and relieved her of her five-sovereign gold chain and stole Rs5,000 in cash and a mobile phone at knife-point. He then locked the front door from outside and fled.

Hearing the woman’s cries, the neighbours came to her rescue. Later, the woman along with her husband Raghunath lodged a complaint with the Madipakkam police station. The police registered a case and also tipped off the cyber crime cell with the IMEI number.

The accused had not used the phone for several months, but recently, the phone was found in use and the accused was tracked to his home at Kabali Gardens, Myla­pore.

Madipa­kkam police personnel on Wednesday rounded up the man, identified as Raju, from his residence. Invest­igat­ions revealed that he had visited the apartment as part of his work in March 2013 and seen the woman send off her child to school.

He had noted the child’s name and the school and later executed his plan to perfection, aware that no one would be at the house in the afternoon, a police officer said.

He was a first-time offe­nder and further inves­tigations are on to find out if he had indulged in similar acts of robbery and criminal intimidation since, the police said.

Chennai: Customs officials seized 800 grams of gold, worth Rs 24 lakh, from three passengers on Monday and Tuesday at Chennai airport.

An airport source said Ramanathapuram-resident Jahir (42), who visited Singapore on a tourist visa, was found carrying 300 grams of gold, worth Rs 9 lakh, illegally into the country on Monday. Customs sleuths seized the gold hidden inside electronic goods, when Jahir reached the city by a Jet Airways flight.

On Tuesday, they seized 500 grams of gold, worth Rs 15 lakh, from two passengers travelling in an Air India Express flight from Kuala Lumpur to Chennai.

A native of Tiruchy, Akbar Ali (30), and Abdulla (39) of Chennai tried to sneak in with 250 grams of gold each, kept secretly in the cell compartment of a torchlight. “The customs officials seized the gold and slapped a fine on the passengers,” the source added.

Chennai:A 31-year-old Bangladeshi national was on Wednesday morning arrested at the Chennai airport for trying to fly abroad using a fake passport and visa.

According to airport sources, Zahar-ul-Shaik had entered India six years back through the border and was living in West Bengal doing odd jobs. Wishing to earn a living abroad, he had approached an agent, who directed him to meet an agent in Chennai to create a fake passport and visa which would cost Rs1.5 lakh.

Zahar had come to Chennai on January 8 and after arranging the documents, had tried to go to Sharjah by a 4 am flight on Wednesday.

He was intercepted by the immigration officials on suspicion and handed over to the airport police who are interrogating him.

Nizamabad: Bheemgal police arrested a 15-year-old boy, on Wednesday, on charges of attempt to rape a minor and sent him to the observation home in Nizamabad.

According to Bheemgal CI Md Waheeduddin, the boy, a student of Class X, attempted to rape a 6-year-old girl at Gongoppula village in Bheemgal mandal on Monday.
He took the girl into a hut and tried to rape her. Perturbed over the development, the girl told her parents about it.

Knowing about the crime, the girl’s parents, along with some other villagers, thrashed the accused and shifted her to the government hospital in Nizamabad for medical examination. The condition of the girl is stable.

In another incident, Nandipet police arrested one Sheik Mahaboob on similar charges on Wednesday.

The accused attempted to rape a 11-year-old girl at Ch.Kondur village in the mandal on last Sunday.

Following a complaint by the girl’s kin, police registered a case.

Karimnagar: A 14 year-old girl, a student of Class VIII, committed suicide by consuming poison unable to bear stomach ache, at Bommakal in Saidapur mandal late on Tuesday night.

According to Saidapur police, Elaboina Akhila from Bommakal resorted to suicide after she could not tolerate the stomach ache, from which she had been suffering for the last few months.

She mixed some fertiliser tablets, used for the maize crop, in curds and consumed it in a hut located in her father’s farms at 7.30 pm, said sub-inspector A. Kiran Kumar.

Her parents grew suspicious when she did not return after a long time in the evening. They noticed her body lying in the hut and rushed her to a private hospital in Huzurabad.

But doctors declared her brought dead. Sadaiah, her father, said she visited a rural medical practitioner recently.

Hyderabad: The warden of a private hostel and his friends, in an inebriated condition, allegedly misbehaved with five female students at Vanasthalipuram on Tuesday night.

The victims, all of them MBA students in a private college, alleged that the accused had banged on their doors late in the night and had forcibly tried to enter their rooms.

Cops have booked a case against Naresh, the warden of Sai Manikanta hostel, and few others for criminal trespass and creating nuisance.

Meanwhile, the warden alleged that the girls often used to return to the hostel late at night. He said he was attacked by the girls’ boyfr­iends when he questioned them.

The locals also said that there was a scuffle in front of the hostel between the warden and the girls’ friends. Vanasthalipuram police inspector P. Gopala Krishna Murthy said that as per the victims’ complaint, a case has been booked against Naresh, who is the brother of hostel owner.

The girls said the warden had haras­sed them in the past as well.

Murder of scientist’s wife: Three arrested

Bangalore: The Bagalur police claims to have solved the murder of a 38-year-old wife of a late scientist. She was murdered by her paramour, a MSW graduate, and his three friends. She was killed and the body was tossed in a ditch on Kodige­halli Road on January 4.

Police have arrested Shyam Yella­ppa (19), Veeresh Chandra­shekar (19), and Bharath Raju (19), an autorickshaw driver.

Harish Kumar (22), who worked at Spandana, was in an illicity relationship with Ganga, who began forcing the former to marry her, threatening to implicate him in a rape case. He kept refusing as she was 16 years senior to him, said the police.

She had also filed a complaint with Bagalur police, who arrested Harish. Later she bailed him out. Unable to bear her harassment and blackmail, Harish decided to kill her. He hatched a plot with his three friends Shyam, Yellappaa and Bharath, the police said.
