AAP volunteers help Dalit woman who was supposed to be aided by Rahul Gandhi.
Lucknow: The Aam Aadmi Party volunteers in Amethi have put up an asbestos sheet over the two room kuchcha house of Sunita Kori, a Dalit woman in whose house Rahul Gandhi had spent the night six years ago.
Gandhi had visited Sunita’s house on January 26, 2008 and had stayed there at night after having dinner with her family. This was a part of Gandhi’s campaign to understand the problems of Dalits.
Sunita’s house was in a dilapidated state and Gandhi had promised to provide some assistance to her.
In 2012, the roof of Sunita’s home was sent on fire allegedly by SP?miscreants. Since then, Sunita and her family have been living in one room that was covered with a tarpaulin sheet.
“I asked the local Congress leaders for help but they did nothing. I met Gandhi but he did not recognise me. When I reminded him of his stay at my home, he asked a party worker to help me but nothing happened. I know AAP is doing it for elections but at least they have given me a roof,” said an elated Sunita.
