Karthik Raja’s gesture of appreciation

Karthik Raja is coming out with yet another special performance

Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s eldest son and composer Karthik Raja who, of late, is busy with his live stage shows, is coming out with yet another special performance titled, Rajavin Sangeetha Thirunaal. Unlike his earlier show, this one is different in nature. The Jr Raja himself explains why it is close to his heart and what drove him to come out with such a concept.

“When my dad took ill and was hospitalised recently, we got thousands of calls from our native place, Pannaipuram village in Theni, enquiring about his health. There was so much concern and adoration for my father that everyone from the rural area, the place that sowed the seeds of music in him, wanted to come to the city. That was a heartwarming gesture for all of us.”

“I was pondering over it when suddenly this idea struck me. How else can we reciprocate our feelings and love towards the people of our hometown than by doing a special show exclusively for them? It will be a tribute to my appa.”

“Since we cannot perform the mammoth show in a village, we are conducting it at Thamukkam Grounds in Madurai on April 5 and the villagers from Pannaipuram will be commuted to the venue by special buses. A part of the proceeds of the ticketed segment will go for charity,” Karthik says.

Several top singers including Mano, Chithra, Unnikrishnan, S.N. Surendhar, Uma Ramanan, Shalini, Anitha, Mathangi and Haricharan among others, are expected to render chartbuster numbers on the occasion apart from Raja’s family members.
