Lotus faces struggles at F1 Australian GP

Lotus is doubtful whether it can take part in the Australian GP

Melbourne: Lotus won Australian Grand Prix 2013, but a litany of problems in preseason testing means the team is wondering if it will even be able to take part in the Formula One season opener this weekend.

Driver Romain Grosjean frankly admitted on Thursday that the team had experienced "a disastrous winter" in trying to integrate the new Renault V6 hybrid turbo engine into its cars and barely got a chance to work on other key areas like aerodynamics and tire management.

Grosjean said Thursday "it's just a little bit of a strange situation, because we don't really know what the car is," which "adds a little bit of pressure because we have to learn all this on the race weekend."
