Poorna, who plays the female lead in the Allari Naresh starrer Laddu Babu, almost missed out on the role. She refused it, because of date clashes when it was first offered to her. Shooting for the film had started but director Ravi Babu, was not happy with the results, so he went back to Poorna and she said yes. And she is very happy that she did!
Talking about her role, Poorna says, “I play Laddu Babu’s girlfriend. My character is not like the usual heroine. Here, I fall in love with a huge fat guy.”
Poorna says, “When the shoot started with another heroine I felt bad that someone else was playing the part. But luckily for me, I got a second chance. The second time around, I managed my time.”
With Naresh all over the posters and promotions, and no trace of Poorna, does she feel that she isn’t being given much importance? Poorna says, “Laddu Babu is purely Naresh’s film. The movie is about his character and so obviously he gets importance. Naresh went through gruelling make-up sessions. I don’t think I could have put in so much of effort,” she says.
“During the recent audio launch, I told Naresh that I am jealous that only he is seen everywhere and we laughed over it,” she adds. “I am a laddu girl myself and I do not think I would have needed much make-up in case I played Naresh’s character.”
Apart from this film, Poorna has completed shooting for Nuvvala Nenila and is currently shooting for Mayadari Malliga.
