‘Acting was not my dream job’
Her show Sasural Simar Ka has been running for over three years now, making actress Deepika Samson one of the most popular names on TV today. But not many know that acting was not always her “dream job”. Deepika had flagged off her career as an airhostess. She says, “I had always wanted to become an airhostess. Acting was nowhere on my agenda. But after three years of flying, the doctors suggested that I should quit as I was suffering from a back injury. Even in a short flight, we would have stand for at least two hours, which would affect my back adversely. Moreover, long hours in a pressurised cabin made things worse. It was heartbreaking, but I decided to go with the doctor’s advice.”
Ask her on how she entered the television industry, and Deepika says, “It was my mom’s dream that I become a TV actor. I got my portfolio done and would get calls for work from production houses. That’s how I got started.”
