Fortis to open two hospitals in Bangalore over next 2 years
New Delhi: Fortis Healthcare today said it plans to open two new hospitals in Bangalore, comprising 280 beds, over the next two years. The healthcare major's two new projects in Bangalore would consist of a 210-bed cancer hospital and a 70-bed facility catering to mother and childcare.
The company, however, did not share financial details. "Karnataka is an important hub for us. Both facilities will fill a vital need gap and complement Fortis' medical specialty offerings in the city," Fortis Healthcare Executive Chairman and Executive Vice Chairman, Malvinder Mohan Singh and Shivinder Mohan Singh said in a statement. "Together with our existing hospitals in Bengaluru, Mysore and Chennai, these new facilities will set higher benchmarks for medical care in the region," Singh brothers said.
Fortis currently has around 500-bed capacity in Karnataka. Fortis La Femme, the 70-bed hospital on, will be ready to receive patients by mid-2015, the company said. The facility would provide medical care for various areas, including gynaecology, obstetrics and cosmetology. The oncology facility would also become operational in over the next two years. Fortis Healthcare shares today closed at Rs 97.75 apiece on the BSE, down 1.01 per cent.
