Xiomi to enter Indian market soon
Xiomi has decided to launch a series of smartphones in India soon
March 26, 2014: Xiomi, Chinese smartphone maker has decided to launch a series of smartphones in India soon.
Commenting on this global expansion,Hugo Barra,Global vice president and former Google VP,said, "We're just starting to think about building truly, truly global products. I think Xiaomi's already good at that because of the mentality of some of the senior engineers. A lot of them have worked at Google or in Silicon Valley, and we have a bunch of ex-Facebook engineers. We have people with the global mentality."
In 2012, this four-year-old company sold about 7.2 million smartphones. In 2013, Xiaomi doubled that number, selling 18.7 million handsets. Adding to the profits in sales, Xiaomi doubled its office space in lockstep, having similar interiors of Google office.
CNET also reported ‘Barra disclosed that Xiaomi plans to have an aggressive pricing strategy for the Indian market with a price tag that will be almost close to the cost.’
Reports have also said that Xiomi plans to offer local language support. On the official XiaoMi India forum, the company also posted a request for volunteers to help the company translate its ROM into Hindi.
Hugo Barra also stated that the company does not intend to target the low-income group in India. However, the price range has not been specified yet.
