Chandrababu Naidu uses Pawan Kalyan's poll talk to TD’s advantage
Hyderabad: A day after actor Pawan Kalyan made his intentions clear about not contesting the 2014 parliamentary election, political observers are questioning the rationale of his floating the Jana Sena. As expected, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday welcomed the actor’s decision not to field candidates from the Jana Sena and thus avoid splitting the vote.
On the other hand, the Congress reacted aggressively against the actor. Political commentators have dubbed the Jana Sena an “outsourcing agency” for the Bharatiya Janata Party and its likely electoral partner in the state which is the Telugu Desam.
“We have seen people launching political outfit for their own purpose. But Pawan Kalyan informed the world that he floated the Jana Sena for the benefit of Narendra Modi. This is a new trend and it is nothing but the outsourcing culture in politics,” said political analyst and MLC Prof K. Nageshwar.
Political observers are also wondering how Pawan Kalyan can reconcile his avowed love for revolutionaries such as Bhagat Singh and Chandrasekhar Azad with his hobnobbing with the BJP and its prime ministerial candidate.
“There is a lot of incoherence and contradictions in his speech,” said writer and political commentator Prof Kancha Ilaiah. Prof Ilaiah, about whom Pawan was very complimentary in his maiden speech when launching the Jana Sena, says that launching the Jana Sena before the elections is not the right thing to do if Pawan’s intention is really to wage a long war against corruption.
The TD president, however, wasted no time in sending signals to the electorate that Pawan Kalyan had the TD in mind when he appealed to people to elect a party that can build the new state and capital.
Referring to Pawan Kalyan’s observations on the new capital, the TD chief said his party would build many cities on the lines of Hyderabad, or even better, in the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh.
