New handsets to compulsorily show ‘Powered by Android’ logo

Google laid down the conditions, and only if adhered, will they get Play, Gmail and other Google goodies

Google seems very disappointed with the manufacturers playing around with the operating system themes and looks. It seems to be losing out on credits that the OS is actually powered by Google itself. In order to gain creditability back, it is asking handset manufacturers to implement the ‘Powered by Android’ logo to be shown at startup on the boot screen.

Google has made this mandatory to all handset manufacturers who are producing Android smartphones and tablets because the newest smartphones are seen themed with third-party skins or tweaked by the manufacturers themselves. Only if they adhere to do so, will they be able to gain access to Google’s first-party stuff—Play Store, Gmail, etc.

The user is not restricted to changing the splash image picture (that shows up when you start the phone). However it is not as simple to change the splash image of the phone unless you know you have the right tools to do so.
