Elections 2014: Chandrababu Naidu promises sops for Telengana
Warangal: Telugu Desam standard bearer N. Chandrababu Naidu has promised Rs 10 lakh ex gratia and government jobs to the kin of statehood martyrs, if the party is voted to power in Telangana, a move that is sure to knock the winds out of TRS’s sails.
Addressing a packed audience at the Hygreevachary grounds in the city as part of the party’s 11th ‘Praja Garjana’ meeting on Wednesday, Mr Naidu promised several sops to the Telangana electorate.
They include national recognition of the popular Samakka-Saralamma tribal festival, UNESCO world heritage status to Kakatiyan era monuments in Warangal, realisation of a socially equal Telangana by proportionate representation to BCs, Dalits, tribals, minorities and the poor and appointing a BC as CM.
“The TDP is the only party to come out with BC declaration, promising 100 Assembly seats to BCs, a sub-plan worth Rs 10,000 crores to cater to the needs of 144 sub-castes besides a BC as CM,” he said.
Calling his arch-rival and TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao a ‘cheater and an egoistic politician’, Mr Naidu wondered why the former had gone back on his promise to make a Dalit and a minority cadre as CM and deputy CM after a separate Telangana state was carved out.
