AAP candidate Chandana vows to sweep away graft

Chandana going door to door to campaign for the upcoming general elections

Hyderabad: Tucked away in the lanes of the posh Gunrock Colony is the 530-dwelling Mudfort Basthi. With a total population of 3,500 and 1,025 registered voters, the basthi has seen three decades of elections, unfulfilled promises and barely any development.

Though every family has a registered ration card issued by the Civil Supplies department and voter ID cards with Mudfort Basthi as their permanent address, their livelihood is quite pathetic.

Trying to work their magic with the “broom” was aspiring MP candidate from the AAP, Chandana Chakrabarthi, who went door to door to campaign for the upcoming general elections.

Apart from enquiring about problems, she also swept a part of the street to symbolise the cleaning of corruption from politics.

“After interacting with the residents at Karkhana Basthi, this is our second pit stop. And one thing we noticed is that people are angry with the many leaders who have let them down. We are here to clearly tell them that we are not going to give them money for votes. We are here to ask them to give us one chance, to work alongside them irrespective of what the outcome is,” said Ms Chakrabarthi.
