What’s the Google 'Android TV' all about?
April 7, 2014: Google has planned to introduce an ‘Android TV’ which can offer entertainment and games to its users. This Android TV will enable individuals to watch and schedule movies and listen to music as well.
‘The Android TV will be cinematic, fun, fluid, and fast,’ highlighted Google. It will also comprise of apps like Play Movies, YouTube, and Hangouta, Vevo, Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, and free online games.
Individuals will also have to use a remote control, which will be in the form of a four-way directional pad. This will enable one to scroll left and right through different suggestions, or up and down through different categories of content, each with their own category shelves.
‘Google is developing this Android TV with an aim that its users should not take more than three clicks or gestures to get from the home screen to the desired content,’ as reported by Financial Review.
The Verge also reported, ‘Google is calling for developers to build extremely simple TV apps for an extremely simple set-top-box interface.’
‘Android TV is an entertainment interface, not a computing platform. It’s all about finding and enjoying content with the least amount of friction,’ highlighted Google’s official reports.
