Salman Khan opts out of ‘Filmistaan’
Mumbai: ‘Filmistaan’, directed by Nitin Kakkar had created a lot of stir at the international film festivals. Post that, the film was picked up by UTV Spotboy and Shringar Films to release it on June 6 this year. In fact, a special screening of the film was also arranged for Salman Khan to get his backing as a presenter, like he was for ‘Chillar Party’. After watching the film, he immensely fell in love with its concept.
‘Filmistaan’ is a funny and heart-warming story about how Bollywood binds everyone, even across borders. It is a true ode to the magic of our movies and their life-changing and life-affirming influence on people.
However, rumour has it that Salman Khan has now decided to take a step back. It is learnt that the actor, who is planning to expand his production house is looking to make more number of small budget films every year. So instead of presenting some other film, he has plans to produce and present his own films from Being Human Production. Though he steps out for trailer launch and music launch for small budget movies, like he did for ‘Khwaabb’, he decided to let this one pass.
At the music launch he had also said that he would like to produce a film based on sports.
The trailer of 'Filmistaan' will be unveiled with the release of 2 States on April 18. It won the award for Best Hindi Film at the 60th National Film Awards.
