Minor gang-raped by 9 for resisting advances
Hyderabad: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by nine youngsters in two different places in the old city last week. According to sources, the prime accused, Mohammed Shakeel, 21, a resident of Hafeez Babanagar, had befriended the victim when she was staying there earlier.
Sources said that the accused had earlier professed his love to the victim, but she had rejected his advances. Since then he had held a grudge against her.
Last Friday, she was picked up by Shakeel from her house and was later raped by him and his friend Basheer and three others. She had been missing since then.
“He asked her to come out on Friday evening and took her to his house in Hafeez Babanagar where the other accused were also present. All of them threatened and sexually exploited her,” said A. Srinivas Rao, inspector of police, Chandrayangutta.
Shakeel then took her to his friend Feroz’s house in Balapur, where Feroz and three others raped her. The accused then left her and fled.
A missing complaint was lodged by her family and a case was registered. The victim was traced at Charminar on Thursday by her uncles and taken back home.
According to the police, the girl was questioned by her mother and she revealed what had happened. Based on the victim’s mother’s complaint, a case was registered under the Criminal Amendment Act, Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act and relevant Sections of the IPC. All nine accused were taken into custody by the police.
However, the police officials are yet to show the arrests. It is expected that this shall be done in a day or two.
