MVD’s Facebook page big hit among citizens
kochi: The Motor Vehicle Department of Kerala seems to be clicking the right button on the social networking world because its official Facebook page will reach 50,000 followers anytime soon.
The page now has more than 45,000 followers and is growing fast, thanks to the initiatives of the page's administrators to reply to the public posts and comments.
At a time when the whole state is grooving into the Facebook wave, the MVD has gone further ahead when compared to other government departments including the Kerala Police.
While the cops are yet to have an official Facebook page, the MVD has already started reaching the public online. A recent update on its page is a clear indicator of its mission, as it says, “Thank you for your continuous support. Please bear in mind that this page is essentially intended to promote road safety and work as a platform for the public to post their complaints and grievances so that the MVD can initiate action.”
The MVD has been paying attention to the photographs posted by netizens. The page advises people to post complaints with photographs which are self explanatory like showing the registration number of vehicles legibly, showing landmarks of the place etc.
“Since action solely depends on evidence content of the complaint, please make sure that all photos you post invariably has the registration number of vehicle in a readable state. In order to take your complaints to the logical end, sometimes it may require taking the matter to the appropriate court of law. Hence please don’t forget to post place, time and date of commission of offence with as much as possible evidence,” the page says.
The page receives more than 10 complaints on average from the public every day. The page admins who are employees of the MVD, are hopeful that the page would be followed by more people, making it easy for officials to identify offences and take appropriate action quickly.
