PDP registers police complaint against Farooq Abdullah’s attack remark
Srinagar: Opposition Peoples Democratic Party has lodged a police complaint against Union Minister Farooq Abdullah for allegedly making threatening statements against party leadership.
"We have yesterday given a formal police complaint against Abdullah at Rajbagh police station for making threatening statements against the PDP and its leaders," chief spokesperson of the party Naeem Akhtar told PTI.
Akhtar, however, claimed that the police station concerned did not give a receipt of the complaint lodged before it. "Later I spoke to Inspector General for Police Abdul Gani Mir who assured that action will be taken according to law," he said.
Mir said the complaint lodged by the PDP was being examined to ascertain if any offence is made out.
The ruling National Conference president, after a youth convention at Rajbagh on Thursday, had said that if he had the power, he would have carried out "attacks" on the opposition PDP to teach them a lesson.
The PDP has also filed a complaint about the statement with the Election Commission.
