Karunanidhi’s poser to Alagiri on Baalu
Chennai: DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Monday dared his elder son Alagiri to categorically state as to what wrongs were committed by T.R. Baalu in Sethusamudram shipping canal and golden quadrilateral project.
When reporters asked him about chief minister J. Jayalalithaa seeking his response to Alagiri’s attack on Baalu with regard to SSCP and golden quadrilateral project, Mr Karunanidhi without mentioning his son’s name, said, “The point is not about who leveled the allegation. Let (him) categorically say what wrong did T. .R Baalu do?”
On Perarivalan’s mother Arputhammal urging leaders not to politicise the issue of his son’s release, Mr Karunanidhi said that it’s a well know fact that DMK was for releasing them. “I had questioned the appropriateness of chief justice of India talking about the case in a public function only to prevent judges from politicising such issues. It was not to politicise the issue,” he clarified.
On Sunday, Karunanidhi took exception to Sathasivam stating in a function in Coimbatore that the case verdict would be delivered before April 25, the day of his retirement.
On chief minister Jayalalithaa accusing the DMK of bringing several schemes with selfish intentions during its regime, Mr Karunanidhi said,
“Disproportionate assets case was being tried not against us but her. It was she who is facing trial in a disproportionate assets case running to tune of Rs 5,000 crore.” Further, the DMK chief asserted that the poll prospects of DMK were good.
