Vijayashanti accuses KCR of ‘betrayal’
Warangal: When Congress politician Vijayashanti, formerly with the TRS, and TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao campaigned in Warangal on the same day but at different venues, the former got the opportunity to portray herself as a victim.
Addressing a well-attended crowd at Maddur mandal in Jangaon Assembly constituency in support of TPCC president Ponnala Lakshamaiah, Ms Vijayashanti alleged that Mr Rao betrayed her after the state’s bifurcation. She claimed that she was humiliated and forced out of the party despite the fact that she had merged her outfit, the Talli Telangana Party, with the TRS.
“Telangana people should not believe the TRS chief as he is likely to forget his poll promises,” Ms Vijayashanti warned, reminding the crowd that Mr Rao had gone back on his promise of making a Dalit the Chief Minister of the new state and a member of a minority community, the deputy CM.
The TRS chief, however, did not retaliate, but ignored Ms Vijayashanti’s presence in Warangal. In his campaign meetings, the TRS chief targeted Mr Lakshamaiah and Telangana TD committee working president, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, and promised to complete the pending Kantanapally project and Devadula irrigation projects if his party comes to power.
He also promised drinking water for Mahbubabad town, and change in the design of the SRSP canal in Palakurthy constituency.
Promises of a more general nature included ending political corruption, launching a probe into land encroachments in Hyderabad, and a hike in social security pensions, double bedroom for the poor in housing projects and loans to Self Help Groups.
