In real life I’m a true Punjaban: Surbhi Jyoti
'Qubool Hai' star Surbhi Jyoti gets her chatty self with DC
Mumbai: Surbhi Jyoti can’t stop humming Patakha Guddi these days. The actress is so obsessed with the Highway song, that she is called Patakha Guddi on the sets of her show Qubool Hai. “I am a big fan of black and white classics, but these days I am just addicted to this song,” she tells us.
The actress plays the role of Sanam, dead Zoya’s daughter (also played by her before the serial went for a 20-year leap). She says,“Being Zoya was a lot more convenient because I just had to wear casuals and didn’t have to stick to a hairstyle in particular. With Sanam, the look is a lot more well-planned and it takes longer to get ready.” Speaking about her new look she says, “My designer Shivani and the creative team have put together my new traditional avatar and it’s worked beautifully. Fans love it.”
But What Surbhi loves most about playing Sanam is the fact that she gets to speak Punjabi along with Urdu (she plays a Muslim girl who owns a dhaba). “In real life I am a true Punjaban. I love the fact that I can extend it on screen too,” she says.
There has been a buzz that the TRPs of the show have suffered after Surbhi’s previous co-star Karan Singh Grover quit the show. Quizzed about this, the actress said, “I’m lucky to have loyal fans who have stood by me no matter what. The upcoming episodes will have interesting twists.”
After a hard day at work, the actress unwinds with shopping and meditation. “I love shopping for shoes and have a huge collection. I am also into yoga and I practice suryanamaskar every day that helps me remain calm.”
The actress adds that unlike most of her co-stars she isn’t a foodie. “I feel trying out different restaurants is a waste of time. I am happy eating my homemade dal and roti every day. The only food I love is panipuri.”
