Make your grandma’s wardrobe your own
Cleaning your basement and found a trunk with your grandmom’s old clothes and accessories? Before you think of giving it away, go through the stuff as they might just make your new wardrobe.
A necessary summer accessory, the vintage round glasses, more commonly known as the John Lennon glasses, make a comeback and are here to stay.
Even Deepika Padukone and Sonakshi Sinha were seen making grand entries at the IIFA wearing similar shades. Talking about how to spice up things with these glasses, designer Nachiket Barve says, “A current favourite, the big round sunglasses are a style statement. While the lenses can always be changed, the important aspect is the frame.”
The designer adds that glasses are not the only things that you should hoard. “Beautiful block printed silk fabrics, fine kurtas can be modified into dresses. It’s more about taking an old style and tweaking it to fit today’s trend,” he adds.

Floor length maxis too are in vogue. Designer Neeta Bhargava says, “The retro look is back and how! Pakistani palazzos, long skirts and maxis are big right now. Even something like velvet it keeps going in and out of fashion every two or three years. So instead of just giving it away, keep it carefully as it will make a comeback one day or the other. Just keep two things in mind, the outfit should still be stylish that all age groups can wear and it should be comfortable.”
Another thing that you can share with your grandma is her watch. Old watches are a huge hit these days. If it has a metal strap, add your own twist by adding charms to it,” says jewellery designer Suhani Pitti.
