Mumbai: As Soha Ali Khan had recently praised her parents, Tiger Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore, for bringing up her siblings the right way, we spoke to Sharmila about her views on parenting.
“We had kept the kids away from the filmi world. Soha was very good in studies and she had also opted for a job in a bank. But one fine day she decided to get into acting. Her first film was Bengali. The late Tiger Pataudi and I were very supportive about the children joining films,” says Sharmila.
Sharmila says that education is paramount for every child, irrespective of gender. “Education is something that can never be taken away from anyone. It empowers girls and opens new vistas for boys.”
All praises for Soha, she adds, “I always look forward to Soha’s advice when I am unable to take a decision, especially, now since Pataudi Sahib is not there. She even helped me learn how to send an SMS. I am indeed privileged to have such a lovable daughter. My other daughter scolds me (smiles) while teaching me any other technical stuff,” she adds.
“Right from her school and college days, anything Soha would get, I would be the first person she would inform,” she says.
